EL CURANDERA / THE FOLK-HEALER
La Dona Paula Hernandez who died in 1989, was a famous curandera, healer, who lived in a small adobe house in Tepoztlan, a small mystical mountain village in Mexico. People came from many places to visit her, often after dreams they had had. This is an interview with her grandson Adan Velazquez Ferrara. He still keeps the small abode home open as a site of pilgrimage. Within it is housed the life-size statue of Christ, reportedly brought over hundreds of years ago by the Spanish. It is carried around the village every year in veneration.
