CITY LIT FINE ART EXHIBITION
CHARCOAL & RUBBER ON PAPER / VIDEO SCULPTURE Original 2m x 3m Projection of stop motion animation of communal mark-making. his participatory piece explored the process of construction and de-construction by using mixed media (paper, charcoal, rubber, digital media and projection) challenging two dimensionality and stasis. The installation started life as a large scale piece of paper (2m x 3m) covered in charcoal. Members of the public were invited to participate by making a mark either in charcoal or rubber. By capturing each frame of the process with a digital camera & creating a stop-motion animation, it was then projected back onto a canvas. By giving over creative control to others this piece deals with issues of co-creation and ownership. Further experimentation has been undertaken projecting the film onto public areas such as buildings and trees to create ephemeral effects.
